PITTSBURGH, PA – Earlier this week, Joseph B. Fay, a subsidiary of S&B USA, was awarded the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s (PTC) Beaver River Bridge project, located in North Sewickley Township, Beaver County.
The Beaver River Bridge carries the PA Turnpike over the Beaver River, CSX and Norfolk Southern rail lines in Beaver County. The project consists of two new parallel cast-in-place segmental bridges that will replace a steel deck truss bridge built in 1953. The new eastbound and westbound bridges will carry three 12-foot travel lanes, one 12-foot acceleration and deceleration lane, and appropriate shoulders. The new eastbound and westbound bridges will be 1,645 feet in length and will feature 385-foot spans.
Fay has done significant work for the PTC over the years, most recently section 55B of the Southern Beltway, the widening of mileposts 31-38 and the design-build reconstruction of mileposts 2-10.
“It’s great to have another project within an hour of S&B USA’s corporate headquarters on the North Shore of Pittsburgh,” commented Ryan Surrena, President of Fay. “Through the 75-year history of Fay, we are proud to have built such a significant portion of the region’s infrastructure.”
Earlier this year, Fay won a $154M Roads and Bridges project at the Pittsburgh International Airport as part of their terminal modernization program. Additionally, Fay just finished its six-year project at the new Shell cracker plant, also in Beaver County. The Beaver River Bridge project adds to a growing portfolio of projects in the region.
